Card Making & Scrapbooking Supplies

Are you brand new to Scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking is all about putting your photographs and journaling notes onto card that fits into an album, often referred to as a Memory or Scrapbook Album. The size of paper used for both plain and patterened paper is 12" by 12". After layng out your photgraphs and extras bits of memorabilia or decorative material onto your sheet of card, it is then referred to as a Layout or Page. This then slides into the Page Protectors within a Scrapbook Album.

You can make your layouts as simple or complex as you choose. In this set of 3 layouts, Gill has shown how you can use the same photographs to create 3 different layouts of increasing complexity.

Keeping it Simple

In this first, very simple layout, she has matted her photographs on a darker cardstock to make them stand out from the background paper.
Then she has added a handwritten title, on a lighter block of cardstock, which she has decorated with some penwork.
As a final touch, she has added the names and date, so that anyone viewing the layout in the future will know who the children are.

Tools used, Paper Trimmer, Hermafix glue, Blue Zig Writer pen, Materials 3 Sheets of Bazzill Cardstock

Taking it to the next level

To make this version of the page a little more interesting, Gill has used 2 torn sheets of patterned paper to create a background. By choosing papers from a coordinating range, she has ensured that the patterns will work together.

She has created her title block using Quickutz letters (or alternatively you could use letter stickers), and has typed her journalling and added more details than in the simple layout.

As a finishing touch, she has added a 'Summer' label to give some added interest.

Tools used paper trimmer, Hermafix, Quickutz (Katie Upper Case) Sailor glue pen. Materials 3 Bazzill plain cardstock, KI Memories pattern paper from Deep sea collection, Junkitz summer Labelz, Computer fonts 2 peas Ocean,

An Advanced Version

For this final version, Gill has pulled out all the stops. She has again selected coordinating papers from a range by KI, and used them to create a patchwork of papers for the background.
She has also rounded the corners of her photographs, and then matted them on patterned papers, and to ensure the photos stand out from the patterns, she has used ink around the edge of one photograph, and stitched around the edge of the other one.

The title has been created with Quickutz letters, and 'Fun' has been stamped using Making Memories Foam Stamps.

Her journalling is now on a tag which is placed in a pocket behind the smaller photograph, and the layout has been completed with some matching fibers and charms.

Tools used Paper Trimmer, Corner Rounder, Hermafix, Blue zig Writer, Sailor Glue Pen, Sewing Machine, Quickutz( KatieUC and LC) heat gun, Foam Stamps Jersay by Making Memories, Embossing Powder, Chalk inks. Materials KI pattern papers, Junkitz
